ok. first of all. some cool contemporary art in Rome.
the whole contemporary art world here is.. well... a long long talk. so, some other time for that.

time here has been going by a little too fast, and i have been really caught up in this... this... well, i don't know what to even call it. really, just a huge big equation but istead of numbers, every symbol is like... a question, or a word, or a theory or an idea. anyway, it has been crazy. i have been learning a lot. and thinking/learning proves that you are living right? so good. let's leave it at that.

these buggers..... i think i need to not look at these feet/legs for about a week. we'll see what happens. but i think we need some serious time apart. i need a plan of attack... or something....









and i've been picking at that itch too.


and i actually have done a little more to this, but didn't get a picture yet. i'll take one tomorrow. but who knows when it will make it to the internet.

and finally. for gianna.
i've been smudging up my studio wall a bit, and these two made me thing of those character-design projects, where you look at a blob - or whatever - and pull some character from it.
so anyway, my gift to you. if you want them. or just, whatever.

that whole train thing again

i find that sometimes working on anything feels like a train slowly getting it's gears moving, but only speeding up at moments only to slow down again. there is that big gearing up feeling, and then a slow weightless wait until - boom. you lock down for that moment and are moving and then there is the climb back to the beginning where you wait to do it all over again.
hope that doesn't sound depressing. cause it isn't. it just is that way sometimes.
but anyway.
here.

so we had some floor.ground changes to do... and still need to really figure out how that is gonna go. expect the floor under my feet to be doing some major shifts in the coming days.

and yeah, so this went down. started getting my little toesies in. but that color loks even more.... um.... scary, on here. whatever. we'll see where those liitle piggies go as well.

learning to look in mirrors

painting is finally a little bit underway. it was a hard start, but after a couple hard days, and a couple great conversations, i have started doing a number of self exploration paintings. as of now i only have three going. but we will see what happens. i know this is not very explanitory, but it is a long long story.
keep in mind, none of these are near finished. they have all only just begun.

it has begun

i will be living in that space for the next 3 months or so. alternating only at times for carlos's house and my and xiomara's apartment.

don't judge me, it is the first drawing i've done in a while... ok? ok.

gettin into some thangs

after all the rain, i find myself at the apartment, listening to npr. it will always make a place feel like home. (thanks mom and dad... note that that is sarcastic but also a real thanks... yeah) they are talking about online polls about who you should vote for and everyone is saying that they got dennis kucinich. so, i just don't know... what's the problem. let's get him in office, no?

well anyway.
i know i've been slacking with the blog here, sorry. getting things going has been a little busy and rather bumpy. but it seems that as of now, we've got things moving. i've already got a list of things to do. the classes all seem like they're going to be rewarding. i am going to start tutoring this kid in english tomorrow. and may this other kid next week. so thats ok... and yeah, so there you go. the galleries and studios class (which is a group of kids going around and visit the secret world of contemporary art that lives in the back alleys of rome) has made me a little... well, i don't know the word... but it seems that rome is kind of doing this this with contemporary art that goes like so:
- find and set up show of "new" "in" art
- call collectors, museums, rich/known people and ask them to come see
- hope they buy some
- rinse
- repeate

it made me a little sick. basically, if you don't know about these places, they are lost to you. and "you" includes a whole lot of people. i don't know, i guess i cling to the hope that making art is about more than money... but i guess people gotta make a living.. or something..

okok so it goes like this?

the past... i don't even know how mnay days... my whole understanding of days of the week is a little off balance right now... anyway. lets start over.
the past couple of days, or, what seems to have bee the past couple days.. or the past week....
ok. one more time.
over the past bit of time, (here we go) i got ruth to the airport - ruth knows how that went, don't wanna talk about it - and managed to get back to rome and pass out for a nice bunch of hours. (i miss my baby, and think of her when i pass her shoes... you know the ones)this was then follwed an odd ballet of hours that could have been little days packed in brown papaer lunch bags and tucked into the pockets of other hours to eat when needed.... point is, i have traveled between various apartments non stop for the past... (insert amount of time here)

new years was fun. huge and i mean HUGE dinner (something like 9 different plates of food followed by about 4 or 5 different desserts and a bunch of different champagnes, wines and such.) at gerardo's house. really fun. after that carlos and i headed into the more central part of rome for more new years fun.

slept forever the next day. don't remember doing much of anything... at all really.

anyway. other things. moving! i am offically out of my old apartment. nothing of mine is there aside from some pennies, nickles and dimes that i left all prettily laid out (i can't use them for anything) some yogurt with notes on them (asking to be eaten) and three keys sitting on the table top in the kitchen.

the new apartment i like much much much better. aside from it being a little more out of the way (public trans wise) it is in a really nice area, and is just... cute. i'll get pictures up at some point.

xiomara gets in on the 8th! yeah! and school will start doing it's thing again. how are things moving so fast?
