how much time am i allotted for "adjusting" ...?

so, i had decided to give myself around a week to get back into time zone, language, people... stuff.
and i think that time went well. but, i am still not there.. or rather, i think that maybe the adjustments of return happened, and now, all the stuff that is left over is... just.. who i arrived at being after an experiance.
maybe this is another one of those, "yeah sarah... that is how it goes..." kind of things..
but i guess i like the wonder that is sometimes so brilliant in the most simple things.

anyway, here are a couple pictures left over from rome.
these are for xiomara.
this is Dawn.... from the boogy down bronx.

and this is me and xiomara at a really beautiful photo exhibit in Rome.
it's us "through the eyes of a child" ... as it were...

these are from an old project i didn't really finish at tyler. or at least, i didn't finish them how i wanted. they look cooler in real life.

and just some new little thingies i'm playing with.

and this! THIS!!!!

IS MY NEW BABY! it is love, and humanity,.... we'll talk about it later...

much love

(i'm scared to say "good art" cause what does that mean?) but i want to make something... with good energy. i don't know. pictures soon soon. f'real f'real.

oh, there are so many worlds in this world

i have been trying to wrap my head around this whole "going/coming home" thing. i am going to be in rome, italy - where i have been living, studing, being for the past 8 months... and then, that every same evening, around 7:30, i will be in philly. my home, where i was born, and grown and such... it blows my mind. how short the time between two worlds that i have come to know... i keep discribing it to people and they just look at me like "... yeah... pretty much that's how it works...."
just take a second to let it sink in...

long story short, i'll be home soon. see yall soon.

to orlando rivera with love

a couple days ago a friend from tyler passed away. his name is orlando rivera. aside from being one of the most talented artists and printmakers i've met at tyler, he was such an incredible force of kind loving sweethearted warmth. everyone knew orlando, and everyone loved him and he will be missed, yet always in our hearts.
tonight, the tyler kids over here in rome got together, to sit, take some moments and reflect, to start to accept and understand, to decide what is most important is the good times, and the celebration of life, and open our doors to heal, together. it was really was very powerful and meant a lot to me.
we are all in our lives. and it pulls us up and down. but i just wanted to say to all of you reading this, and those of you that aren't, that i love and care about you very much. and you are all important to me.
i have my issues with tyler, and with temple, but i think the reason i was attracted to it in the first place was because of the community that is alive there. like capa, there is care and respect and love for those in the community. and when someone falls down, there is a sweeping compassionate wave of responce to help pull us all back up. this was very present tonight, and it is truly one of the most beautiful gifts people can give to eachother.
with love,

sarah

we're almost home, we're almost home

the student show is tomorrow night. then next week is finals. then morocco. then my last week in rome and maybe some tripos to napoli and venezia before i am on a plane headed to the states.
i am not too happy with any of the work i have done here. i did learn a lot however so i guess that is the important part, no?
i am worried my italian will slowly fade away and i don't want that to happen.
but i also have to learn spanish.
and a job, yeah yeah yeah. i know.
anyway. feeling really ready to be home. yet not wanting to leave my baby.
thats it.
i'll take pictures at the student show so we can all see what went down.

peace
